GVHD lung

Just wondering how many of you have been diagnosed with gvhd of the lung? If so have you managed to find a consultant who has experience in this area. Also if the condition deteriorated further, what are the chances of being eligible for a lung transplant. Is it dependent on the gvhd having stabilised for a certain number of years?
Your help is appreciated.

  • Hi, thanks for posting, I am the lead nurse in patient services. I am sorry that you have concerns with lung GvHD. The transplant consultant should be able to refer you to a lung specialist (respiratory consultant) who is knowledgeable about lung GvHD. You can then discuss treatment options with them including lung transplant. I have do not know of any stem cell transplant patient that has had a lung transplant as there are many factors involved but this is a discussion you can have with the specialist.
Lung GvHD can be quite challenging so I hope that you are getting the support you need, if you feel that you would like to talk to anyone in our team please give us a call 0303 303 0303

    Thanks
    Hayley
