Benefit of beetroot juice when exercising

My husband has been a health freak for years and is always trying out new fads that he reads about.
Some ,he feels,work some do not.

For the last couple of years he has been drinking a glass of beetroot juice daily and he believes that it helps his stamina when exercising.

Friends have laughed at him and now our Son's football team have been advised to drink it and so has my Neice who is a cyclist,aiming to cycle in the Olympics.

The funny thing is,I love beetroot but can't stomach this,he hates beetroot but drinks this with breakfast!
